In her 2021 Instagram post announcing the birth of her first child via surrogate, Amber Heard shared her personal decision to become a mother.

Reflecting on the journey, she wrote: “Four years ago, I made the decision that I wanted to have a child. I wanted to do it on my own terms.”

She continued, emphasizing her perspective on women’s autonomy: “I now realize how radical it is for women to think about one of the most fundamental aspects of our lives this way. I hope we reach a point where it’s normalized to want a crib without needing a ring.”

Heard also touched on the tension between her private life and her public role: “A part of me wants to uphold that my private life is just that private. But I also recognize that my job requires me to take control of this narrative.”

While she has kept much of her family life under wraps, Heard has occasionally shared intimate glimpses of it through her social media posts.
