Donald Trump has brushed off a strange and unsettling remark from an advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader, who joked on national television about the president being targeted by a drone while sunbathing at Mar-a-Lago.
“Iranian Official Mocks Trump with Drone Threat on State TV”
In a provocative moment during a July 9 broadcast on Iranian state television, Mohammad-Javad Larijani a senior advisor to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei took aim at former President Donald Trump while discussing Iran’s military capabilities.
“Trump can no longer sunbathe in Mar-a-Lago,” Larijani said with a laugh. “Because while he’s lying down, a micro-drone might strike him right in the navel.”
Though he added, “Of course, we fight like men,” seemingly walking back the comment, the remark quickly drew attention in the U.S. and was mentioned during Trump’s interview with Fox News.
Asked by host Peter Doocy when he last went sunbathing, Trump replied dryly:
“It’s been a long time. I don’t know maybe I was around seven or so. I’m not too big into it.”

“Trump Shrugs Off Iranian Remark, Signals Willingness for Future Strike”
Trump appeared unfazed by Larijani’s pointed comment, brushing it off with a mix of sarcasm and ambiguity:
“I guess it’s a threat. I’m sure it’s not a threat actually, maybe it is.”
The remarks from Tehran came just days after Trump confirmed he would “absolutely” consider another military strike on Iran. His comments followed a recent U.S. operation in June that reportedly targeted three critical nuclear facilities.
When asked whether he’d authorize another bombing if intelligence revealed suspicious uranium enrichment activity, Trump replied:
“Sure. Without question. Absolutely it has to be unbelievable.”
He also reflected on the state of the region, describing both Iran and Israel as “exhausted.”
“The last thing they’re thinking about right now is nuclear,” he said. “You know what they’re thinking of? They’re thinking about tomorrow trying to live.”
