Mom Names Her Baby After Her Favorite Band And People Won’t Stop Mocking Her

A mom is being mocked online for naming her baby after her favorite band.

Selecting a name for a baby can be a deeply personal decision, influenced by a variety of factors.

Some parents choose names to honor deceased loved ones, while others take inspiration from famous figures or fictional characters they admire.

One mother recently shared her experience of naming her twin boys after her favorite band.

Initially, she believed she had made a wonderful choice, but she has since started to doubt herself.

Concerned about potential judgment from others, she turned to Mumsnet for advice, explaining that she feels people are criticizing her decision to name her sons.

She wrote:

“Judged for my kids’ names?!

“I’ve always been a huge Oasis fan (sorry, Blur fans), and their music has shaped and inspired me throughout my life.

“When I found out I was expecting twin boys, I thought it would be amazing to name them after the Gallagher brothers!

“I thought it was a sweet tribute, but people keep frowning and laughing like it’s some kind of joke!”

According to her post, the reactions from others have left her feeling hurt.

The Gallagher brothers, Noel and Liam, were the heart of Oasis, one of the most iconic bands of the 1990s. While the mother saw the names as a meaningful tribute, not everyone has shared her enthusiasm.

Her post sparked over 200 responses, with users weighing in on the unique name choice.

Some reassured her that the names were fairly common and nothing unusual.

One person commented, “Liam and Noel are actually pretty nice, mainstream names. It’s not like you named them something wild like Ringo or whatever.”

Another chimed in with a different perspective: “Well, I know someone who named their twins Ronnie and Reggie, soooo…”

However, not everyone was as supportive.

One user admitted, “Not a fan of either name. I can see why some people find it a bit funny—naming two kids at once, from the same family, after famous siblings. But hey, names are a polarizing thing, and at the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter what others think.”

Another simply wrote, “I’m not surprised people laugh, to be honest.”
