Bill Maher has spoken out on how his recent meeting with Donald Trump went down.
On March 31, Republican supporter Kid Rock went to the White House alongside Maher, who has long voiced his dislike of President Trump.
With this in mind, the country singer wanted to ‘unite’ the US by having the pair meet face-to-face to see how things went — and much to everyone’s surprise, it went quite well.
Apparently, Maher and Trump even had things in common. Chatting on Varney & Co the day after their momentous get-together, music star Kid Rock (real name Robert James Ritchie) said: “We talked about a lot of things that he had in common. Bill Maher is a big supporter of Trump’s stance on the border, of ending wokeism.
“The president even asked him about policy and what he thought with Iran getting nuclear weapons.”
Kid Rock was quick to share how the meeting went, but Bill Maher stayed silent—saving his thoughts for the latest episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, which aired on April 12.
Kicking off his “Book Report” segment, Maher revealed that he and Kid Rock agreed: “There’s gotta be something better than hurling insults at each other from 3,000 miles away”—a nod to the public jabs exchanged between Maher and Trump over the years.

Maher went on: “For anyone who treated this like it was some kind of summit—get real. What did you think, I was going to sign a treaty? I’m a comedian, not a policymaker. I have zero power.”
He added, “Trump’s one of the most powerful figures in the world. I’m not leading anything—unless you count a group of centrist-minded folks who just believe there’s got to be a better way to run this country than constantly hating each other.”
His remarks drew a round of applause from the audience.
Maher then revealed he brought a list of 60 insults Trump had thrown at him over the years—including calling him a “dummy”—and asked the former president to autograph it. To his surprise, Trump signed it “with good humor.”
Maher clarified that he didn’t “go MAGA” and felt no pressure from Trump to do so.
“The guy I met wasn’t the same person who, just the night before, rage-tweeted a bunch of nasty stuff about how terrible this dinner idea was,” Maher said. Meeting
He also noted that Trump was “much more self-aware than he lets on in public,” and claimed that everything he had previously disliked about him was “absent” during their dinner.
So… what do you think? Is a Maher–Trump friendship actually on the table?
