Halo brows: New beauty trend is playful and loopy

It’s no secret that eyebrows are the ultimate beauty playground. Just scroll through social media, and you’ll find a wild variety of brow trends, from unicorn horns to Nike swooshes and even fishtail designs.

Just when you thought beauty trends couldn’t get any stranger, along came halo brows.

Like many offbeat trends, halo brows were born in the wild, creative world of social media. Platforms like TikTok and Instagram have become hotspots for pushing the boundaries of conventional beauty.

This particular look a single arch looping across the forehead to connect both eyebrows was the brainchild of 16-year-old British influencer Hannah Lyne. Her eyebrow doodle went viral almost overnight, sparking curiosity, confusion, and plenty of buzz.

“So me and a friend were talking about the fishtail brow trend, and then we came up with this,” Lyne wrote in the Instagram post that introduced the design a look that left the internet both intrigued and puzzled.

In an interview with Pop Sugar, the young beauty blogger clarified that the design wasn’t a joke, explaining that it was inspired by the fishtail brow trend.

“I was chatting with a friend, trying to brainstorm a fresh idea, and suddenly it hit me why not connect the ends of my brows?” she recalled.

Speaking further with Yahoo Style, Lyne shared her broader goal: “I just want people to embrace being silly and explore fun, weird, creative looks!”

A ‘Ridiculous’ Fad?

Like many viral beauty trends, halo brows sparked a storm of mixed reactions across social media.

Some Instagram users praised Lyne’s originality and boldness: “I love it!” one fan gushed, while another added, “All your looks are so original… your talent is endless!” A third chimed in with, “How do you even come up with these ideas? You’re incredibly creative and always nail the execution.”

But not everyone was impressed. Many critics were quick to label the look a “ridiculous” reinvention of the unibrow.

“Vomits uncontrollably,” one user wrote. “Is she serious or trolling?” asked another. Someone else quipped, “Instagram? More like Instaregret.”

Others took it even further, calling the look “ridiculous” and joking they were “deleting Instagram because of this photo.”

Still, Cosmopolitan had a more positive take, describing the “heavenly halo brows” as “strangely beautiful.”

“Get ready to discover the unconventional yet undeniably stunning artistry of the arch,” the magazine wrote in praise of the looping brow design.
