Formula 1 legend passes away a month after health update

Former Formula 1 team owner and broadcaster Eddie Jordan passed away aged 76. He disclosed his prostate cancer diagnosis in December, 2024, stating it was an “aggressive” form.

Eddie Jordan ran his own formula 1 team between 1991 and 2005.

He’s also known as the man who gave Michael Schumacher his break in F1, and the rest was history. Schumacher went on to win seven world championships, becoming the best formula driver the world has ever seen.

Jordan’s family has announced his passing, sharing the heartfelt news:

“With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Eddie Jordan OBE—former Formula 1 team owner, TV pundit, and entrepreneur. Eddie passed away peacefully in Cape Town in the early hours of March 20, 2025, at the age of 76, surrounded by family, after a courageous 12-month battle with aggressive prostate cancer.

“EJ was a larger-than-life presence, bringing charisma, energy, and his signature Irish charm wherever he went. His absence leaves an immense void, but he leaves behind countless cherished memories that will keep us smiling through our sorrow.”

In February, just a month before his passing, Jordan offered an update regarding his health, saying he was “not himself” because of the treatments he had been receiving for the cancer he battled.
