Turning a new leaf and starting your life over is something not many people have the courage to do. However, a woman named Bethany Provencher isn’t one of those people who are afraid it of challenges and new beginnings.
A single mom to an 11-year-old boy, she packed up her life after 18 years in Miami and moved to St. Charles, Illinois, in search of a fresh start.
With 25 years of experience in customer service, she quickly landed a job as a server at a local IHOP. She also moved into a new apartment but had no extra money to furnish it.
One day at work, Bethany recognized two familiar faces—singer-songwriter Donnie Wahlberg and his wife, Jenny McCarthy.
As a longtime fan of Donnie, she was thrilled to serve them. What she didn’t expect was that the day would take an unforgettable turn.
When the couple finished their meal, which totaled $35.27, they left Bethany a handwritten note on the receipt: “Thanks, Bethany, Happy New Year. 2020 Tip Challenge.” Along with it, they left a jaw-dropping $2,020 tip.
They asked her not to open the receipt until they left. Once she got the chance to take a look at it, she noticed the generous tip. Needless to say, Bethany was over the moon.
