A missing Utah teenager has been recovered after walking into a police station to identify herself some six weeks after going missing.
Alisa Petrov, a 15-year-old from South Jordan, Utah, was reported as a “runaway” after having been seen leaving her school in American Fork.
She was reported missing on April 21, just two days after her final message to 41-year-old Samuel Teancum Mitchell, with whom she had engaged in a series of sexually explicit conversations, according to an affidavit obtained by KSL TV.
Three men, including Mitchell, became subjects of the investigation into her disappearance. In one message sent on April 19 at 12:34 a.m., the girl wrote to Mitchell: “I’M RUNNING AWAY. Please don’t contact me.”
According to the New York Post, the exchanges between the two had grown increasingly sexual, including discussions about condoms, sex acts, and plans to meet in person.
Investigators discovered the messages on the teen’s iPad, which she had left behind in her bedroom. Mitchell was identified after police conducted a reverse search of the phone number he had provided.

Missing Teen Found Safe in Colorado After Six Weeks
According to recent reports, Alisa Petrov has been found alive and in good health after walking into the Colorado Springs Police Department approximately 500 miles from her home on Sunday evening, six weeks after she was reported missing.
The 15-year-old had last been seen on surveillance footage departing a train platform in Provo. In the weeks following her disappearance, her family had offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to her safe return.
On June 2, the South Jordan Police Department issued a statement confirming her recovery:
“In the evening hours of June 1, 2025, a young female voluntarily made contact with the Colorado Springs, Colorado Police Department and identified herself as Alisa Petrov.
Alisa’s identity was confirmed. Alisa is in good health and safe with Colorado officials.”
Authorities have not yet confirmed how Petrov traveled to Colorado Springs or whether she was held against her will during her disappearance.
Meanwhile, 41-year-old Samuel Teancum Mitchell was arrested last Wednesday and charged with five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor a second-degree felony and enticement of a minor. Two other men have also been taken into custody in connection with the case: William Taylor Glines, 37, in Texas, and Matthew Nicholas Menard, 35, who surrendered to authorities in Florida on Wednesday night.
