Man Cut In Half By Forklift Shares Horrifying Photo Of Moment It Fell On Him

A man who was cut in half by a forklift has shared a horrifying photo of the moment it fell on him.

Loren Schauers, from Montana, U.S.A., was 19 years old when he plummeted off the side of a bridge driving a forklift truck in 2019.

In the accident, the industrial truck crushed the lower of his body and one of his arms.

Now, Loren has provided further detail on the traumatic experience.

Loren’s life was saved by a rare and complex surgery called hemicorporectomy, in which the lower half of the body is amputated.

According to the National Library of Medicine, hemicorporectomy—also known as translumbar amputation—involves the removal of the bony pelvis, pelvic organs, lower limbs, and external g**italia after disarticulating the lumbar spine and severing the spinal cord.

In addition to this, Loren’s arm, which was crushed in the accident, had to be partially amputated.

After enduring this life-altering experience, Loren and his wife, Sabia, launched a YouTube channel where they frequently host Q&A sessions.

In one video, Loren shared how he manages bathroom functions after his hemicorporectomy.

He explained that he underwent a colostomy, a procedure that creates an opening in the large intestine.

As Healthline describes, “Colostomies are performed due to problems with the lower bowel and create new pathways for stools to pass.”

Loren also revealed that he has bilateral nephrectomies, explaining, “I have tubes that go into my kidneys, which drain into bags. So that is how I poop, pee, and fart.”

In another Q&A, he discussed his life after the accident and how it has impacted his friendships.

One person asked him: “Do your friends still treat you the same way they used to before the accident? Are you happy, surprised, or disappointed by some of them?”

In response, Loren said (per MailOnline): “I’ve been a little surprised by some of them.

“A couple of friends came out of the woodworks and have been really supportive, [others] totally reverted and have been reclusive.

“But it’s whatever to me, you know, I got Sabia, that’s all I need.”

Loren has also recounted the day of his life-changing accident and how he was ‘conscious the whole time.’

He recalled being thrown from the forklift at the end of the hill and landing on his hips and right forearm. A piece of his arm muscle lay on the ground next to him, blown apart.

Loren has a shared photo from the accident, as reported by the Daily Star.

The news outlet reports that he uploaded images on Instagram and in one, he says he can be seen ‘pinned under the forklift’ if you look closely.
