Elon Musk’s father has ignited outrage with his brief four-word response regarding his relationship with his stepdaughter.
Musk is no stranger to controversy, from his acquisition of X (formerly Twitter) to his outspoken right-wing views and ties to President Donald Trump.
He’s also known for having a large family, which seems to be a trend within the Musk household.
Errol Musk, Elon’s father, has fathered several children, including two with his stepdaughter.
Musk has 12 children from three different women.
He shares five children with his ex-wife Justine Musk, three with Canadian singer Grimes, and three more with Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis.
Tragically, Musk’s first child with Justine passed away in 2002 at just 10 weeks old from sudden infant death syndrome.
Errol Musk, Elon’s father, has been vocal about his son’s parenting, particularly on The Wide Awake podcast. He stated: “No, he hasn’t been a good dad. The first child was cared for mostly by nannies and died in their care… Elon’s gonna shoot me for saying this, but that’s what I think. That’s no good.
“He had five children, each with its own nanny… It was a weird situation. He didn’t spend enough time with them.”
Social media users were quick to share their responses, with one person replying: “Elon Musk’s father is the only person currently alive who is more evil than Elon Musk.”
Another added: “Elon Musk does not need enemies when he has a father like Errol Musk.”
“He has the audacity to comment on someone else’s parenting?!” a third person commented.
A fourth said: “Like this guy has any morals.”
Musk and his father have had a strained relationship, with the tech billionaire once telling Rolling Stone that Errol is a “terrible human being” who has done “almost every evil thing you could think of.”
Errol has three children with his first wife, Maye Haldeman, two with his third wife, Heide Bezuidenhout, and two more with his controversial partner, Jana Bezuidenhout.
Jana, who is Errol’s stepdaughter from his marriage to Heide, was just four years old when Errol married her mother. They were together for 18 years before later reconnecting.
Errol explained their rekindled relationship: “We were lonely, lost people. One thing led to another — you can call it God’s plan or nature’s plan,” he told The Times.
The father also addressed his relationship with Jana in a recent interview on VLAD TV, which sparked further controversy.
Errol recalled the moment he learned Jana was pregnant with his child, saying:
“Two months later, she contacted me to say she’s pregnant, so I said, ‘Well, oh, it can’t be me.’
“She said, ‘Well, it is you,’ because she hadn’t been with anybody else.”
Defending their 42-year age gap and his controversial relationship with his stepdaughter, Errol stated:
“All I say is, ‘Show me the rules.’ I’d like to see the rules. Please show me the rules—I want to see the rules for love and war.”
