Taylor Swift’s reaction to controversial Donald Trump comment by Travis Kelce ahead of the Super Bowl

This weekend will bring yet another spectacle for the lovers of American football with the Kansas City Chiefs setting to take on the Philadelphia Eagles. Prior to the Super Bowl, the Chief’s star Travis Kelce made a comment that triggered his girlfriend’s reaction.

Namely, Kelce said it would be a “great honor” to play in front of the president, which urged many Swifties – Taylor Swift fans – to tell her to “run away” from him.

One person commented, “If my boyfriend said it was a great honor to have the man who constantly slanders me there, I’d break up with him immediately.” Another added, “No, Travis, it’s not awesome or an honor for that man to be there. His whole answer was just… yikes.”

President Donald Trump has previously made comments about the singer, even saying he “hates her,” which likely influenced their reactions to Kelce’s remarks.

Trump’s comments about Swift came after she publicly supported his opponent, Kamala Harris, during the 2024 presidential campaign. At the time, Swift said, “We can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.”

However, Swift has since clarified her support for boyfriend Travis Kelce, explaining that his statement wasn’t a direct endorsement of Trump but rather an acknowledgment of the position held by the country’s leader, regardless of who occupies it.

Kelce shared his thoughts on playing in front of the president ahead of the Super Bowl, saying, “It’s awesome. It’s a great honour, I think no matter who the President is.”

He added: “I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life and having the President there, it’s the best country in the world so it’s pretty cool.”

People close to the couple say Travis Kelce wasn’t trying to make any political statements.

He was just making a comment on the behalf of his team and showed respect for the position of a president of the country.

Sources told Daily Mail that Swift isn’t angry at Kelce. “Although Travis’s quote was taken as he supports Trump, this is not what Travis said at all,” the source said.
