Princess Beatrice and husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi welcomed their second child, Buckingham Palace revealed.
The baby, named Athena, was born a few weeks prematurely at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London, but both she and the mom are home and recovering well.
The royal family welcomed the new addition into the world on January 22, weighing 4lb 5oz.
“Their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of the royal family have all been informed and are delighted with the news,” the Palace stated.
Princess Beatrice and her husband, who share their three-year-old daughter, Sienna, along with eight-year-old Wolfie from Mr. Mapelli Mozzi’s previous relationship, released a photo of baby Athena while expressing gratitude to the team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for their “wonderful care.”
The royal baby’s arrival came as a surprise to the public, as Princess Beatrice was previously expected to give birth in early spring.
The Palace first announced her pregnancy in October, and just two months later, doctors advised her against long-distance travel. As a result, she had to alter her Christmas plans and forgo traveling overseas, instead spending the holiday with the royal family at Sandringham, where she attended church on Christmas Day.

The proud father shared a photo of baby Athena wrapped in a pink blanket, calling her calling her “tiny and absolutely perfect.”
“We welcomed baby Athena into our lives last week. She is tiny and absolutely perfect. We are all (including Wolfie and Sienna) already completely besotted with her. Our hearts are overflowing with love for you, baby Athena,” Mr Mapelli Mozzi wrote on Instagram.

Proud aunt Princess Eugenie celebrated the arrival of the new addition to the family sharing Mr Mapelli Mozzi’s post and writing, “Welcome Baby Girl.”
